Sling Bag

Almost a new month already my how the year is flying by it will be dolly club day on Sunday the 7^th of August we are going to do a colouring on fabric workshop using our colouring pencils and colourless blender, I am looking forward to that day. I have a few more flowers in my garden it’s starting to look OK, my friend Pat finished her runner and has started on another two. Block 7 of my H.W.quilt is finished I have not finished a lot of sewing this month I have been doing a lot of walking with my family our council has made all these wonderful walking tracks around the town we all walk about 10k every Sunday (Love it) a lot of people walk their dogs and bike riders love it.

Lovely day here in Mackay it is our winter months 8.00 in the morning and the temp is 12c not bad for winter. I have been lazy (as usual) this month lots of planning not much work I did manage to finish a runner and bag for my Daughter a runner for my friend Elizabeth almost finished a runner for my son in law and worked on my hexagons for my flower garden quilt .There a worthwhile project going on Amanda’s blog (Huggles for Ethiopia)so I will have to put my energy into working on the Huggles(lots of prizes)go pay her a visit .Have a great day all.

A Great Time over Easter

My garden is growing slowly but it is growing I did add one flower to it this week. Had lots of fun learning to make a lead lighting wall hanging at Janome It took me a month (4 Mondays) to make it I loved lead lighting so much I went home and started on another one an Australian Galah. It still has a lot of work to do on it I have to add the Gumnuts before it gets quilted I also had a go at stippling on the lady wall hanging and made a Table runner. We all had a great Easter we went to the beach and the Kookaburra invited itself for lunch also went to the Botanic Gardens and had lots of walks .so glad Easter is over. It’s been a busy three weeks since my last posting I have started to sew a few Hexagons together for my garden quilt, sewn the next blocks for my Butterfly quilt and finished block 4 of the Henrietta Whiskers bom also learning to sew at Janome a lead lighting wall hanging I have never sewn lead lighting before and I love it I should have it finished by next Wednesday and will put it on line then It’s a wonderful day here in Mackay (no rain). I have worked a bit on my butterfly quilt it’s been a long time since I started it I have looked at my dragon quilt that has to be finished and I found in my box of ufo’s two more quilts ready to be quilted. I have made four flowers for my garden this week I lost my mojo for a while and have found it again and hope to do a lot more sewing. Quilting at Janome has started this week we all had a good time on Monday and am looking forward to next week, Doll clubs have started up after the Christmas break but I have not thought what I will make yet. Hi all, It’s a while since my last blog I have been busy and time seems to get away from me. It’s a great day here in Mackay a little warm in the middle of the day but a good day all the same, quilting starts again at Janome on Monday I am looking forward to it. I have a couple of projects I need to finish, my dragon quilt and my black and white crazy patch quilt. We have had wind and rain in Mackay for the last week I love the rain good weather to sit at the sewing machine and create not that I did I was just too lazy. I did manage to do my hexagons for the month I have finished 50 flowers now I still do not know how many I need for a double bed quilt someone please let me know. The doll clubs that I go to have closed or are about to close for the Christmas holidays so I will have lots of time to make hexagons. One Flower Wednesday I made seven hexagon flowers this week and have started on next week’s flowers I was looking at the hexagons all the girls made for one Flower Wednesday they are all wonderful good job ladies. it has been a good week to catch on things. I have uploaded a few photos of the new boat of the volunteer Marine Rescue. My neighbour took the photos; he works as a radio volunteer. The weather is so perfect it’s too good to be indoors sewing. I had a lovely surprise in the post on Friday the fabric arrived that I won in the September challenge on Amanda’s blog (I love cloth dolls and cloth crafts) I asked Amanda to choose for me and she choose the Moda Spirit what a great fabric the colours are ones that I love I will have to make something special with it .I did not make a lot of Hexagons this week I made some for Miss Molly’s quilt its wind and rain today in Mackay( I love it)a good day to make Hexagons All the girls in the one flower Wednesday make great hexagons wonderful colours

Lovely day here in Mackay not hot not cold just perfect we do get a lot of them days. It’s my doll club day today looking forward to it; we always have a great time. Here are photos of my hexagons for this week; I missed out for the last 2 weeks .My cat Miss Molly thinks I made them for her I will have to make a mini quilt out of hexagons for her to lay on. One flower Wednesday is here already they come by so quickly I have made five flowers for my garden this week that gives me a total of 31. I do not know how many I need to make a quilt so I will keep adding to my garden .
I made the dolls a few years ago got tired of them and now I like then again so out they come and onto a chair so I can look at them,they are made from an Elinor Peace Bailey pattern.

I have been busy with my hexagons this week to make up for the lack of them for the past two weeks they are good to make while watching TV

Also made napkin rings for the Christmas in July challenge over at Amanda's blog (I love cloth dolls and cloth crafts)

On Sunday I went for a walk with my daughter and g/daughters at far beach came across this beautiful dog my G/daughter just had to take a photo of me and the dog with the owners consent. also a photo of her little girl Ava. Dolly Hugs to all Rita.

I just love my mailman yesterday he gave me a parcel from my Daughter Amanda (from I love cloth dolls and cloth crafts)she sent me some great fabric for my birthday to put in my stash, I love every one of them.
There was a beautiful card with very pretty cats on the front and back.
I have not had time to make my hexagons last week or this week I will make up for it next week. Our doll club was deferred to next Wednesday because some of the ladies were not well and I had a fall and hurt my chest, so we all needed an extra week before our meet, we will make up for it next week.

Great Weather

Another great day here in Mackay we did not have a winter this year beautiful weather. A wonderful day was had by all at Jays last Wednesday .we sewed talked and ate and did not get home till well after three o’clock so tired. Here is a photo of jay and her prize winning bag she got 1st at the Mackay show.
Shirley Giddy a friend and member of the doll club is now making and her own patterns
So far she has four patterns out and a fifth on the way. Her patterns are being sold on Doll maker’s journey
A big Congratulations to Shirley Giddy a job well done.

I’am late updating my blog this week we all had such a good time last Wednesday
At doll club we decided to have an extra day this month so we all went to doll club today
I am so tired I will sleep early tonight. I bought 4 new doll patterns today ,one of our dolly ladies has put out 4 patterns of her own I hope to make all of them I will put up a photo of the patterns during the week when I get more time. It is also one flower Wednesday I Finished three flowers this week
I also made a table runner with my crazy patch.

Hi all another week has flown by that means its blog day and one flower Wednesday
I have made a lot of off white hexagons for the in between flowers
Have put together three flowers from all the colour hexagons I made this week
Not much else has been made in the sewing room as I have been making hexagons
Every chance I get I love making them (I am hooked)

Had a good meeting at doll club on Wednesday we all decided to have a go at making bags, Jey (the bag lady)and Elizabeth both bought along bags that they had made they all looked great we all went home with new ideas.
It was also Jey’s birthday so we had cake (did not need an excuse to have cake)

It’s a great day here in Mackay , good day to go for a walk along the beach.
I am going to Ipswich on Sunday for a couple of weeks, on the Tilt train, should be fun.
I have not been doing much sewing this past month (lazy) have started on a new quilt with a lot of appliqué I have done a lot of prep work so I can take hand appliqué away with me. Some photo’s of what I have finished so far.

It has been a busy month for me lots of sewing
A small surgery (stopped me from sewing for a couple of days) going to the movies and lots of shopping. I bought some new fabric for my appliqué stash

Wow did I have a great time last weekend on a Genesis fabric colouring workshop

Hi all
I have not worked my blog for a while small health problems all sorted out now. Have almost finished my cat quilt the top is finished only the quilting to do now
I had a wonderful holiday in Ipswich and Brisbane I went down and back on the Tilt train what a great experience I just love train travel so much but it is great to be back home in Mackay best place in au to live great weather up here.
My sister Barbara made some cross stitch cats for me love them both also here is a photo of a sampler quilt my friend Pat made great job Pat.

I have finished my first Quilt at last I loved every ninute i spent making it.I have not had time to hang it but will do so in the easter break

the quilt is 60 inch sq.

I have already started on another lap quilt at home and will make a single

at Janome after easter I then start on a queen size for my bed.

I am hooked .
